Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, excluding non-melanoma skin cancers.
178,480 new cases of breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among U.S. women in 2007; this is a 16% decrease over 2006. One out of eight women will develop invasive breast cancer at some point in their lives. As a result, breast cancer has become the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
While these numbers are daunting, significant progress is being made. The rate of increased incidence is slowing down. Death rates from breast cancer are declining. Presently there are over two million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. You can help us continue - and win - our fight.
